Specialist Programs

Queen of Apostles provides a range of specialist activities for our students to enjoy:

Sports and Fitness

A coordinated health and fitness program is in operation throughout the school. The children also experience a wide range of sporting activities suited to their level of development. We compete in athletics, cross country and swimming on an interschool basis and in Term 2 children in Years 4, 5, and 6 partake in competitions for Netball and Touch Football, AFL and Rugby League. The aim of our program is to develop in the children an enthusiasm for physical activity and a love of sport, which will lead to a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Sports Uniform is worn twice a week. These days will differ for each year level depending on HPE lessons. You will be notified of the appropriate days via the newsletter.

Swimming/Dance

Students in Year 3 - 6 go swimming in Term 1 and Prep-Year 2 go swimming in Term 4. These lessons are facilitated by professional swimming instructors who are accredited to teach children to swim.

Instrumental/Strings Music Program

All children from Years 2 to 6 can take part in the Instrumental/Strings Music program. An instrumental/strings music teacher gives small group  lessons in school time, on a rotational timetable. Instruments can be provided by parents or rented from a local company. Children in this program will become members of our school band and ensemble. Payment for lessons is made directly to the school via school fee accounts.

LOTE: Japanese

The Japanese program is offered to students in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 . The program consists of a combination of Japanese language and culture. The focus is on communication, so lessons are based on speaking and listening skills, as well as reading and writing, while becoming aware of the customs, traditions and celebrations of the Japanese people.
